Devin Leary's leadoff at-bat provided a big clue as to how the day would go for Erial Little League's 11-12 all-star team in its District 14 tournament game Saturday.
Leary hit a home run—his second in as many games—to pace Erial to a 13-1 win over Runnemede.
Erial has now scored 34 runs in its first two games of the 2012 tournament. It routed Haddon Heights, 21-11, Tuesday.
While Saturday's game was played at Erial's George Erdbrink Complex, Runnemede (0-1) was considered the "home" team. It was clearly Erial (2-0) that felt right at home.
The actual home team pounded out 15 hits, leaving behind the on-paper home team. Third baseman Matt Mastrogiovanni and catcher Nick Chaput led the way for Erial with three hits and two RBI each.
Runnemede mustered just two hits against Erial starter Shawn Gaugler, who got the win with his three hitless innnings of work, and reliever Jared Weaver.
Erial's win set up a Gloucester Township showdown against Glendora Monday night. The game will be played at Glendora, and is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
Glendora (2-0) routed Gloucester City (0-1), 14-1, on Saturday.
