GT Stallions 120-Pound Team Heading to Virginia

The GT Stallions 120-pound team holds coin drops to support its trip to the Mid-Atlantic National Championships in Richmond, VA.

The Gloucester Township Stallions 120-pound football team will host Paulsboro at 7 p.m. tonight for the South Jersey Elite Invitational Youth Football League conference championship.

Along the sidelines at the team's complex in Blenheim, Stallions boosters will be collecting donations to help send the team to Richmond, VA, the weekend of Dec. 15-16 for the National Prep and Youth Football Association Mid-Atlantic National Championships.

The Stallions will also hold a coin drop outside of Not Just Pizza, at 1715 Sicklerville Road in the township's Sicklerville section, noon to 6 p.m. this Sunday in support of the Virginia trip.

"I have a great group of kids," head coach Lou Peebles said. "They're hard-working. They're team players. They play for each other."

The Stallions enter tonight's conference championship game unbeaten, at 9-0, including last weekend's big 39-0 win over Washington Township. They are ranked third in New Jersey in their weight class, Peebles said.

Paulsboro's lone regular-season loss came against the Stallions. The visitors enter tonight's contest at 8-1.

The Stallions hope to raise $5,000 with the coin drops to cover transportation, food and lodging costs associated with the two-day tournament in Virginia.

The team could play as many as four games in two days at the Mid-Atlantic National Championships.

"The kids are so excited about it," Peebles said.
