Highland, Timber Creek Notch Football Wins

Other Gloucester Township scholastic scores include boys and girls soccer.

Quarterback Derin Sweeney connected on a pair of touchdown passes in the first half to jumpstart the Highland Regional High School football team to a 25-7 win over Cumberland on Friday night, according to The Daily Journal.

Sweeney connected with Bryce Washington for an 11-yard score, and with Chais Hill on a 12-yard score to put the Tartans on the board.

DeVante Parker rushed for a score from 6 yards out for Highland's third touchdown, and capped the scoring with a fumble recovery he took to in for a score from 15 yards out.

Highland improved to 2-4. It hosts Glassboro on Friday night, 7 p.m.

Timber Creek 34, Lenape 17: Dan Williams threw three touchdown passes and rushed for another in the blowout win, according to nj.com.

Isaiah Austin scored from 2 yards out on the ground to open up the scoring in the first quarter. He also caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Williams in the third quarter.

Williams threw two touchdown passes to Cameron Chambers, one for 4 yards in the second quarter, and one for 35 yards in the fourht. His rushing touchdown came on a 13-yard run in the first quarter.

Timber Creek improved to 5-1 and visits Paul VI Friday night at 7 p.m.

Williamstown 30, Triton 18: Isaiah Baylor had a 53-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Page in the loss, according to nj.com.

He also scored on a 5-yard run in the second quarter that gave Triton an early 6-3 lead.

That lead disappeared with four unanswered Williamstown touchdowns.

Page also scored on a 26-yard pass from Jake McGlinchey.

Triton fell to 1-4 and visits Clearview Friday night, 7 p.m.

Boys' soccer

Woodstown 3, Highland 1: Vincent Del Giorno scored for Highland, with an assist from Gavin Meyler.

Timber Creek 6, Winslow 0: Timber Creek took a commanding lead with five first half goals. Billy DeLuca and Alex Kourahanis led the way with two goals apiece. Steve Ersing found the back of the net, while Vincent Palmucci had a goal and two assists. Joe Burton and Christian Morgan also had assists.

Goalies Jay Jennings and Justin Smith split time, making a save each in the shutout.

Timber Creek improved to 10-1.

Williamstown 3, Triton 2: Javier Arias and Christian Van Auken each scored in the one-goal loss. Goalie John DeLuca made three saves.


Girls' soccer

Highland 3, Deptford 0: Morgan Ruth posted a goal and an assist to help Highland improve to 11-1. Hayley Kudzmas and Erin Looby also posted goals. Renae Moken had an assist. Goalie Kari Vanderslice made eight saves to preserve the shutout.

Highland 2, Woodstown 1: Morgan Ruth and Renae Moken each found the back of the net for the Tartans in the win. Goalie Kari Vanderslice made 12 saves to help pick up the victory.

Timber Creek 7, Winslow 1: Shannon Farrell’s hat trick propelled Timber Creek to victory. She led the way with three goals as the team improved to 7-4-2 on the season.

Hayley DeFeo was next with two goals. Colleen Collins had a goal and an assist, and Brianna Magana found the back of the net. Lexi Karakitsios assisted on three goals, and Kelly D’Angelo added an assist.

Goalie Alija Walter had five saves. Jenna Tolen also saw time in the net, making three stops.
