Lightning Take GTHA Freshmen Division Title

The team won the title with its win over the Maple Leafs Sunday night.

The Lightning won the Gloucester Township Hockey Alliance (GTHA) 2011-12 Freshmen Division championship Sunday night.

The Lightning, coached by Gloucester Township resident Ralph Julia and Bellmawr resident Tom Zimmerman, won the best-of-three series over the Maple Leafs, 2-0. They defeated the Leafs, 7-1, on Sunday to win the title.

The Lightning also won the regular-season division title. The in-house championship team's members will make up the majority of GTHA's South Jersey Meat travel team, which will compete in Mays Landing, Marlton, West Deptford and Pittsburgh, PA.

The Lightning roster follows: Eric Zimmerman, Dan Julia, Tyler Eager, Justin Romano, Justin Smith, Rich Michielli, Devin Eager, Tom Ersing, Steve Ersing, Josh McShane, Matti Simonetti and Tyler Sheehan.
