Three Little League Seasons Set to Begin Saturday

Blackwood Kiwanis, Erial, and Glendora little leagues all get going on Saturday.

After Opening Day festivities were washed away last weekend, Blackwood Kiwanis Little League will attempt to get the season going on Saturday.

The Opening Day Parade was also rescheduled for Saturday after rain forced the league to cancel its Opening Day Festivities last Saturday.

This week, the parade is set to begin at Gloucester Township Elementary School, and conclude at the Little League complex for the Opening Day ceremony, according to the league's website. The permit to hold the parade on the Black Horse Pike was valid only for last Saturday, so the parade route had to be modified.

Those attending are asked to meet on the ball field area at Gloucester Township Elementary School no later than 8:15 as the parade is set to begin at 8:30 a.m.

The parade will be followed by the first day of games, commencing at 10:30 a.m. and concluding at 7:30 p.m. with a matchup between the Hot Rods and the Blue Claws.

Glendora Little League will hold their Opening Day on Saturday, with their parade set for 11 a.m. on the Black Horse Pike. It will proceed to Evesham Road  and end at the Little League Field off Evesham Road.

During the parade, the Black Horse Pike will be temporarily closed to all traffic from Station Avenue to Evesham Road between 11:00 am to 11:45 am.

Finally, Erial Little League will hold their opening day on Saturday, preceded by a parade.

Erial Road will be closed Hickstown Road and Garwood Road from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.  Williamstown Road will also be closed between Essex Avenue and Erial Road during the same time period.

The parade will end at the little league fields located off of Essex Avenue.   The detour route for southbound Erial Road is Hickstown Road to Erial-Clementon Road to Erial Road.

The route is reversed for northbound traffic.

Drivers are encouraged to follow the marked detour route to avoid delays. Officers will also be stationed at closure points to assist with directions. The detour route is as follows; Station Avenue to W. Evesham Road to Route 168 North. The route is reversed for southbound traffic.

Drivers are asked to use caution when in the area. To avoid delays, drivers should seek an alternate route of travel.
