No Decision Yet on New Gloucester Twp. Schools Chief

After the Gloucester Township Board of Education went into closed session in hopes of picking a successor for Superintendent Thomas Seddon, no decision was made.

While Monday night’s school board meeting was full of resignations and approvals of personnel moves, one position was still absent from the board’s agenda. Some believed that the name of the new superintendent would be announced at Monday’s board of education meeting, however a candidate was not publicly placed in front of the board for approval.

Around 8:55 p.m. Monday, the Gloucester Township Public Schools Board of Education went into closed session to discuss replacing Superintendent Thomas Seddon, who will retire in September.

President Linda Gilch said the board had narrowed the number of candidates for the position. However, she could not give a timeline for when a decision would be reached or when the announcement would be made.

"We need to make sure we place the right person in the job. I am not sure what will happen. We could bring in an interim superintendent, if we do not find the right person," Gilch said .

Seddon has served as superintendent for eight years after being promoted in 2004. He previously was the district's assistant superintendent.
