Outlet Mall Proposal Considered Today in Gloucester Township

Designer outlet store could be coming to the township next year.

The Gloucester Township planning board will consider a plan for a new 450,000-square-foot designer outlet complex on 55 acres near Cooper Road.

The public hearing on the project will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Hall on Chews Landing Road.

The project is a joint venture between PREIT-Rubin and Simon Property Group, one of the largest shopping center developers in the nation. It will be locate along a new interchange on the busy North-South Freeway, Route 42. The plan includes luring designer and name-brand outlets to the facility with a scheduled opening next year. PRIET also owns the Cherry Hill and Moorestown malls and Voorhees Town Center.

Plans also call for a town square with outdoor dining. Local officials say up to 1,000 jobs would be created by the project in construction and retail.
