Discriminates against those with visual impairments.
My boyfriend is visually impaired. We went to Bensi’s in Sicklerville, NJ to enjoy a nice meal. We were not that hungry, so we decided to sit in the bar area. Upon arriving, my boyfriend needed to go to the restroom. Due to his disability, he accidently walked into the kitchen, apologized and asked where the restroom was located. The manger and bartender, assumed that he and I were both intoxicated, which we were not. I later explained this to the bartender Sonia, who showed much sympathy and was very apologetic, however when explaining the situation to the General Manager, Michelle she was not. She claimed that we were intoxicated, and that she had the right to not serve anyone she felt necessary. She did not want to hear that he was visually impaired; she was extremely rude and offered an apology in a rude fashion. We both are very upset about how we were embarrassed in this establishment and will never go back. I am currently in contact with the National Federation of the Blind to see what further action can be taken against this restaurant. At this point in time, nothing can be done to rectify the situation. A decent apology and understanding of a disability was all we wanted at first, but nothing can help the emotional damage that has be done by this establishment.

My family of 6 has dined here many times. Our youngest is 2yrs old and we had no problems with having children here. The food is excellent and they are always willing to give me my favorite gnocchi with the vodka sauce even though that is not on the menu.
Service has always been prompt and friendly. Currently planning a lunch for a group of friends here.

I eat here at least 2 times a week with my husband and kids and we love it! The staff is always welcoming, and the great meals are worth the wait. As the manager tells my kids "no cell phones at the table, enjoy each others company!" Its a great place to take the family and enjoy the time together.

It was horrible!!! The staff are rude. The waitress spilled a whole drink on me and did not once say she was sorry for it. I told a manager and they did not do anything about it. So we left. I heard the manager say oh well if they left. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

Bensi's just hosted a 100th birthday party for me and did a phenomenal job. Mike the manager and Mike the server were instrumental in making this day super special for my senior and I can't thank them enough. They even decorated for me as I couldn't be in 2 places at once. My senior citizens and I have been regulars at this restaurant for more then a year and have always had exceptional service. Fernando, the chef, takes a personal interest in his customers and always comes out to say HI. Thanks again guys......;o)

My experience at Bensi's is completely different from the other listed here. It is a shame that Chip, who is a friend of mine and person whose opinion I respect, had such a difficult experience. I have dined at Bensi's many times and have found the food and the service to be exceptional. I can only think that the party of 20 in the next room pretty much changed the dynamic that night, and that is unfortuate. I have always known Mike, the Manager, to be super courteous and helpful. Additionally, Fernando's kitchen is top notch. As a former restaurant owner, I know when a chef loves what he does and runs his kitchen with the same attention you would give to your own offspring. Fernando is one of those hands-on chefs and I have always found the food to be exceptional. I don't discount Chip's experience-- it is just a shame that he and his family did not get to enjoy the same experience at Bensi's that I have. Here's to better days!
