<p>The Blackwood Elementary School building opened on Blenheim-Erial Road in 1958, the same year as Chews Elementary School on Somerdale Road. Three additions have since been completed.</p> <p>In 1960, eight classrooms were added and, in 1980, 10 classrooms and an all-purpose room, library, teachers' lounge, cafeteria, and additional restroom facilities were completed. A new gymnasium, office space and five new classrooms were added in 1995.</p> <p>The school's principal is Kim Capone.</p>
