7-Eleven '7-Election' promotion currently has president leading Mitt Romney 60 to 40 percent.
The results are in ... sort of. Anyone who has stopped by a Gloucester Township 7-Eleven this election cycle may have noticed the red and blue cups available for your morning coffee. The world's biggest convenience store chain has since Sept. 6 been running its third "7-Election" campaign and, thus far, things have looked good for the president. Either that, or Democrats drink a lot of 7-Eleven coffee. As President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney prepared to square off in their first debate, by Wednesday Obama (the blue cup) was leading with 60 percent of "votes." Romney (the red cup) had 40 percent, according to the official 7-Eleven website. Here in New Jersey, Obama had a 56 to 44 percent lead over Romney among …

Get your caffeine on and celebrate with a free cup of coffee.
If the first words out of your mouth every morning are, “I’ll have a large coffee”—or if you can’t even speak until after you’ve had your java fix—there's a national holiday created especially for you. America will put staunch tea drinkers to shame on National Coffee Day this Saturday, when coffee fiends can rejoice and celebrate their beloved coffee bean with free brew from national chains. Coffee was first brought to America in the mid-1600s in a shipment en route to “New Amsterdam,” now known as New York, according to the National Coffee Association. We have that shipment and the Boston Tea Party to thank for turning the nation into coffee drinkers. National coffee chains, some with locations in and around Gloucester Township, will be …

Taormina faces charges in a slew of crimes in Camden and Gloucester counties, including two robberies of Gloucester Township 7-Eleven stores.
An alleged serial convenience store robber has been indicted on the first of a slew of charges from robberies in Gloucester and Camden counties. James Paul Taormina, 30, of Clementon, was indicted by a Gloucester County grand jury this week for a TD Bank robbery in Washington Township on Feb. 10, and faces a second-degree robbery charge for that alleged heist. In all, Taormina allegedly hit at least eight different locations across two counties over a two-week period in February, coming away with cash in six robberies, including the TD Bank robbery. He allegedly robbed convenience stores in West Deptford, Gloucester Township and Cherry Hill, in addition to the bank job. Taormina was finally arrested Feb. 24, after a multi-jurisdictional …

James Paul Taormina is accused in an armed robbery spree across Camden and Gloucester counties, and remains in jail on $300,000 bail.
Accused serial robber James Paul Taormina remains in jail on $300,000 after a Superior Court judge declined to reduce his bail during a hearing Friday. Taormina, 30, who has been charged in five different robberies in Gloucester and Camden counties, including two in Gloucester Township, has confessed to three of the incidents and been positively identified by a TD Bank employee in another. He has yet to be charged in one of the Camden County robberies, at a 7-Eleven in Cherry Hill. Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Laurie Cimino cited the identification and confessions as reasons to keep the bail where it currently stands, given the evidence against Taormina. “The state believes the proofs are significant,” she told Superior Court …

After apparently laying low for a few days, the alleged serial robber hit a convenience store in West Deptford Sunday night.
He came in like any other late-afternoon customer to the One Stop Shoppe, grabbed an item off the shelf and went to go pay for it at the counter. That's when West Deptford Police say it became clear he was anything but a customer, as the man—in what has become his uniform of a gray hoodie and a ballcap—pulled out a hammer and demanded money from the cashier. As soon as the register was opened, police said the alleged robber reached over and grabbed an unspecified amount of cash from the drawer, then took off running, circling around behind the building. He was last seen sprinting through the CVS plaza behind the convenience store, police said. A K-9 search was conducted after this latest robbery, with no luck. While he was carrying a …

Investigators in Camden and Gloucester counties believe the same man is responsible for a rash of armed robberies, including two in Gloucester Township.
Police investigators in Camden and Gloucester counties, including here in Gloucester Township, believe the same man is responsible for a rash of armed robberies in their towns since Thursday. It is believed the same man, armed with a knife in most cases, has robbed convenience stores in Gloucester, Cherry Hill and West Deptford townships and a TD Bank branch in Washington Township, Gloucester Township Police Capt. After robbing the TD Bank on Route 42 in Washington Township Friday afternoon, the police theory goes that the suspect robbed the 7-Eleven store on Evesham Road in Gloucester Township's Glendora section Friday …
