Need Info on Fourth of July Fireworks? Don't Call 911!

Camden County reminds residents not to use the emergency system to call for information about area fireworks displays.

It seems like a no-brainer, but Camden County is reminding residents not to call 911 for information about the time and location of Fourth of July fireworks displays. "The 911 system is for emergency calls only," county officials said in a release. "The county’s dispatchers and local police departments are not able to inform residents of the locations and times of fireworks displays or parades in their area. The emergency communication system should never be used for non-emergency information and all events scheduled around the holiday can be found on your municipal website." Police: Camden Woman Makes Fake 911 Call During Traffic Stop

The woman apparently wanted to avoid being arrested on warrants.

Police say a Camden woman called in a fake 911 report of an individual armed with a shotgun at a nearby convenience store in an attempt to avoid being arrested on warrants during a traffic stop late Monday. Gloucester Township Police Ptl. Paul Bertini conducted the traffic stop on Blackwood Clementon Road at around 11:35 p.m., according to Lt. Edward Bryant. At the same time as the traffic stop, police dispatch received a report that an individual was armed with a shotgun at the Little Gloucester Road Wawa. Police allege the passenger in Bertini's traffic stop—Janora Carter, 25, of Park Boulevard, Camden—made the 911 call with the hope she and driver Robert Webb, 28, would be sent on their way as police responded to Wawa on the gun call. …
