Camco Prepares for Election Without Electric
The Camden County Superintendent's Office goes without power for days while preparing for high voter turnout next Tuesday.
The Camden County Superintendent of Elections office in Pennsauken lost electricity Tuesday morning as a result of Superstorm Sandy. The power still had not been restored as of Thursday afternoon, but that wasn’t preventing employees there from ensuring next Tuesday’s election takes place. “We can’t have an election without this office,” Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “They are hard at work, equipped with flashlights and a generator, to make sure that all residents get to exercise their right to vote next week.” Camden County Superintendent of Elections Phyllis Pearl is anticipating the largest voter turnout since the last presidential election, when Barack Obama defeated John McCain, in 2008. “In terms of voter participation…
