UPDATE: Car Crash on Lower Landing Road Sends One to Hospital

The driver, identified by police on Thursday, remains listed in critical condition.

UPDATE 12/27 11:21 p.m.: Police on Thursday identified the driver injured in the one-car crash on Lower Landing Road Wednesday afternoon as Nicole Showers, 23, of Bellmore Avenue, Deptford. Bellmore remained listed in critical condition at Cooper University Hospital, in Camden, as of about 4 p.m. Thursday, police said. ---------- A one-car crash in Blackwood Wednesday afternoon left the driver in critical condition, police said. The accident occurred on the 300 block of Lower Landing Road shortly after 1 p.m. Police officers found a four-door 2003 Mitsubishi car had crashed into a tree on its passenger side. The vehicle was occupied only by the driver, who appeared to be seriously injured and had to be extricated from the car by Chews …

Minor Car Accident Damages Cemetery

The accident occurred on Chews Landing Road around 8 a.m.

A two-car accident on Chews Landing Road Thursday morning did not result in any injuries, according to police, but did bring damage to a historic Old Black Horse Pike church's cemetery. A section of the fence surrounding the cemetery at The Church of St. John the Evangelist of Chews Landing was felled and two headstones dislodged as a result of the accident. The accident occurred around 8 a.m. No one sustained serious injuries in the crash, Gloucester Township Police Lt. Brian McKendry said. An older, white Lexus sedan left Chews Landing Road and ended up in the cemetery after the crash. The Lexus knocked over the fence and then dislodged a headstone where Dorothy A. UPDATE: Police Re-Open Roads Near Blackwood Lake

Several roadways around the lake were closed as police investigated a serious accident, which reportedly included one victim's ejection from a car.

UPDATE 8:40 p.m.: Church Street and other roadways closed as police investigated a serious crash near Blackwood Lake have been re-opened. ––––––– UPDATE 8:20 p.m.: Church Street remained closed from the Black Horse Pike heading west past Blackwood Lake as of 7:35 p.m., township police said. It appears the accident actually occurred in Washington Township, just over the Camden County-Gloucester County border, near where Church Street splits to Good Intent and Barnsboro Blackwood roads.
