BHPRSD Board Approves Mackie as Interim Triton Principal

Daniel Mackie takes over as Triton interim principal next week.

The Black Horse Pike Regional School District (BHPRSD) Board of Education voted Monday afternoon to approve Daniel Mackie as Triton Regional High School's interim principal. Mackie is a 1966 Triton graduate. The veteran educator is expected to report to the Runnemede school Wednesday afternoon for a teachers' in-service day, when he will meet with administrative staff and supervisors, BHPRSD Superintendent John Golden said during Monday's meeting. Mackie, a Gloucester Township resident who last served as interim vice principal at Lindenwold Middle School earlier this year, will likely work his first full day at Triton the middle of next week. Triton principal Catherine DePaul has been suspended since Oct. 3, one day before she was charged …

The Black Horse Pike Regional School District (BHPRSD) Board of Education is expected to approve Daniel Mackie as Triton Regional High School's interim principal at a special meeting this afternoon. The board last week called the meeting for 4:30 p.m. today at the district's Erial Road office building. Superintendnet John Golden said this morning he expects the board will approve a committee's selection of Mackie, who last served as interim principal at Lindenwold Middle School. Black Horse Pike Board Calls Special Meeting

It is expected the board will hire an interim principal for Triton High School.

Black Horse Pike Regional School District Board of Education has called a special meeting for Monday afternoon during which it is expected Triton Regional High School's interim principal will be hired. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. It will be held at the regional school district's Erial Road administrative office. Principal Catherine DePaul was suspended with pay in early October, one day before she was charged with covering up information regarding inappropriate relationships between Triton teachers and now-former students during the 2011-12 school year. Three teachers and a second administrator have also been charged in the sex scandal. "The meeting Monday is related to the hiring of an interim principal at Triton High …

I say start calling, emailing and sending letters to the Commissioner of Education. If he gets the message, then the teachers and administrators will too when he formally cancels their certificates and revokes their suspension (vacation) pay. No pay for play.   more ›

BHPRSD Board to Work with Administration on Triton Interim Principal Search

The board votes Thursday to temporarily suspend a policy that would keep it out of the Triton interim principal search.

Black Horse Pike Regional School District (BHPRSD) Board of Education members will have a say in who fills Catherine DePaul's shoes as interim Triton principal while the longtime administrator serves an indefinite suspension for allegedly covering up inappropriate teacher-student relationships. The board voted Thursday night during its meeting at Timber Creek Regional High School to temporarily suspend a district policy that dictates the board not be involved in the interview process for certificated staff members except for the positions of assistant superintendent and business administrator/board secretary. "For the purpose of assessing interim principal candidates for Triton High School, the BOE will suspend (the policy) temporarily, or…

Schu - The five arrested - teachers, principle and vice principle are technically " STILL" employed !!!! They are still receiving a paycheck ... The board legally can't fire any of them until they are indicted or plead guilty which NONE have done yet. If they plead not guilty and move forward, if a grand jury finds them guilty, they automatically do at least 5 years in jail ! I hope they are …   more ›

BHPRSD Board Moves to Take Suspended Triton Educators' Pay

Only a handful of residents direct anger at the Black Horse Pike school board and administration in the wake of the Triton High School sex scandal, while others defend the Runnemede school.

The Black Horse Pike Regional School District (BHPRSD) Board of Education on Thursday night unanimously authorized district administrators to stop paying five Triton Regional High School educators suspended in a teacher-student sex case as soon as possible and without requiring further board action. The five educators charged in the sex scandal—teachers Jeffrey Logandro, 32, Nicholas Martinelli, 28, and Daniel Michielli, 27, and administrators Catherine DePaul, 55, and Jernee Kollock, 39—currently are suspended with pay. Under New Jersey state law, school districts can only take away suspended educators' paychecks when they have been indicted on criminal charges, tenure charges seeking their termination have been filed, or the state has …

I don't believe the student was coerced to change her testimony as much as her story was rewritten to fit what the administrators wanted to "spin". The whole thing was a mess and no-one but no-one had the guts to do what was right. Not the administrators, teachers, or those "poor tortured' students who were so taken advantage of and were in no possible way culpable for their own actions; such as …   more ›

Suspended Triton Educators Still Drawing Paychecks?

State law is on the side of the five suspended Triton teachers and administrators as it relates to their incomes.

While the employment statuses of the five educators charged in the Triton Regional High School sex case likely won't be decided for several months, if not longer, many in the community have questioned whether the three teachers and two administrators are drawing paychecks while they're suspended. The short answer: Probably, but not for much longer. A certificated school staff member can only be suspended without pay if they've been indicted on criminal charges or if tenure charges have been filed by his or her school board, according to New Jersey law. The Black Horse Pike Regional School District (BHPRSD) Board of Education meets Thursday night for the first time since the charges against its Triton faculty members were filed and …

Braithwaite Communications, of Philadelphia, handles media inquiries in wake of Camden County Prosecutor's Office announcement of five educators' arrests.

SOUTHERN NJ -- Black Horse Pike Regional School District (BHPRSD) has hired a Philadelphia public relations firm in the wake of a sex scandal at Triton Regional High School that saw three teachers and two administrators arrested Thursday. The district hired Braithwaite Communications on Thursday to handle the "media barrage" it anticipated following Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk's announcement of the educators' arrests, Braithwaite account supervisor Sarah Lindsay said. The terms of the agreement are not known at this time. Three Triton teachers—Jeffrey Logandro, 32, Nicholas Martinelli, 28, and Daniel Michielli, 27—are charged with having sexual contact with now-former students during the 2011-12 school year. Prosecutor: 'Moral, Ethical and Legal Failures' in Triton Sex Case

Three Triton teachers and two administrators face charges of official misconduct in the teacher-student sex scandal.

Three Triton Regional High School teachers allegedly carried on sexual relationship with now-former students while two administrators covered up the reported sex crimes, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday. The teachers—Jeffrey Logandro, Nicholas Martinelli and Daniel Michielli—were placed on administrative leave at separate times in the investigation late this summer and earlier in the school year. Logandro, of Deptford, and Michielli, of Blackwood, are charged with a number of sex crimes for alleged contact with underaged victims. Martinelli, of Cherry Hill, has only been charged with official misconduct at this point, as his alleged victim was 18 at the time.  Also charged in connection with the prosecutor's office …

I agree Hadenough. The culture at that school had to be terribly wrong. I'm sorry to say that I'm not completely surprised. I'm sure nepotism and patronage play a part here also. I really can't believe what the principal did here? That is the most disturbing aspect. What in the heck are you thinking? It's not like these girls met these guys in a bar.
