Freshman Propels Chargers to Overtime Win
Brittany Martin hit the game-tying free throw with 1.8 seconds left in regulation, then scored nine points in overtime to lead Timber Creek past Pennsauken.
With her team fighting tooth and nail with Pennsauken in the fourth quarter, Timber Creek Regional High School freshman Brittany Martin had a brief scare that had nothing to do with the scoreboard. Martin saw her mom stumble and fall down a few rows of steps on the bleachers. It sent a shock through the young guard. Fortunately, it took but a brief moment for Martin to find out that her mother was going to be just fine. Rather than have the incident distract her from the game, it seemed to invigorate Martin. She began playing with aggressiveness and grit, and it was Pennsauken that paid the price.
