Santa to Visit on Erial, Lambs Terrace Fire Trucks This Weekend

Santa Claus visits Fire District Nos. 5 and 6 Friday through Sunday.

Santa Claus will visit neighborhoods in the Erial and Lambs Terrace fire districts Friday through Sunday. Santa will be riding fire trucks departing from both Station 85 on Sicklerville Road, in Lambs Terrace, and Station 86 on Williamstown Erial Road, in Erial. If you want to follow Santa's progress and learn how close he is to your neighborhood, sign on to Twitter and follow @Sta85Santa for Lambs Terrace and @Sta86Santa for Erial. Fire-safety tips and other information will also be tweeted from both accounts. The Santa riding on Engine 85 in District 5 will start off along Johnson Road around 6 p.m. on Friday night. Local Fire Departments Collecting Goods for Sandy Victims

Drop off food, blankets and clothing at the Erial, Lambs Terrace or Chews Landing fire stations.

The Chews Landing, Erial and Lambs Terrace fire departments are seeking the public's help getting much-needed food, clothing, and supplies to the victims of last week's Superstorm Sandy. Erial Fire Department and Lambs Terrace Fire Co. are working together as part of a countywide effort to collect items for Sandy victims. That effort has already resulted in a shipment to support 200 displaced North Jersey residents who are currently staying in motels in North Wildwood, according to Erial firefighter Steve Schwegel. Fire Prevention Week 2012 kicked off on Sunday. There are plenty of events planned in the Gloucester Township community and at the township's schools. Fire Prevention Night at Lowe's Monday

The Erial Fire Department and Lambs Terrace Fire Co. join forces to host the annual event.

Fire Prevention Week 2012 begins Sunday. While younger kids will get in-school visits from firefighters throughout the week, Gloucester Township area families can get together Monday night to learn how to safeguard their homes and get to know a little bit about the fire service at Lowe's on Berlin-Cross Keys Road. Monday's event will mark the sixth consecutive year Erial Fire Department and Lambs Terrace Fire Co. have joined forces to host Fire Prevention Night at Lowe's. There will be firefighting demonstrations, prizes, food and fire-prevention materials available at the event. Updated: Voters OK Fire Budgets in All 6 Districts

Results are in for Blackwood.

In an election marked by the typical low turnout, Gloucester Township voters approved fire budgets in all six districts. Saturday’s polling asked voters to approve or reject the fire districts’ spending plans, as well as elect Board of Fire Commissioners representatives. District 1: Glendora Fire Company Budget passed: 39-12. District 1 will raise $286,400 from taxes to support a budget of $332,685 for the all-volunteer station.  Incumbents Gary Emmett and John Atkinson ran unopposed for two three-year terms on the Glendora Board of Fire Commissioners and received 45 and 47 votes, respectively. District 2: Chews Landing Fire Department Budget passed: 555-180. District 2 will raise $1,632,130 through taxes to support a $1,815,630 budget. …

Fire elections will be held across the state, including Gloucester Township's six districts, in less than three weeks.

Fire district elections will be held across New Jersey on Saturday, Feb. 18. Only two of the six fire districts in Gloucester Township have contested races this year. The commission races and tax levies to be voted on in Gloucester Township's fire districts are summarized below. Polls will be open at the six district's station houses from 2 to 9 p.m. on Feb. 18. In District 1, incumbents Gary Emmett and John Atkinson are running unopposed for two three-year terms on the Glendora Board of Fire Commissioners. District 1 voters are being asked to approve a tax levy of $286,400 to support a budget of $332,685 for the all-volunteer station.
