Council to Move Forward with Rec Center Expansion

Expansion means more room for preschool and meetings, but the plan isn't a done deal yet.

Gloucester Township Council is one step closer to approving an expansion to the recreation center on Broadacres Drive in Blackwood. A resolution to approve the proposed expansion plans as well the advertisement for bids on the project will be on the agenda at the Feb. 11 Council meeting. The expansion will add two rooms that will take up a combined 1,600 square feet, Cardis said. Both rooms will be for mutil-purpose use and will serve as meeting areas and well as an area for the township's preschool program. Cardis said that the preschool program has done well in the past few years and the expansion will give the program …

Two girls are approached by an adult male police believe to be the same person in separate incidents Thursday night.

Police believe it was the same man who approached two juvenile girls and attempted to engage them in conversation in separate incidents Thursday night. The victims told police they were approached by a man driving a red or burgundy, four-door car, with New Jersey license plates, as they walked home, Gloucester Township Police Capt. One incident occurred near the Gloucester Township Recreation Center, on Broadacres Drive, and the other in the Cherrywood Apartments complex, off Little Gloucester Road. Police converged on the area of Cherrywood Apartments around 9:30 Thursday night after receiving …

Boys Hoops League Adds Registration Night

Gloucester Township Boys Basketball League adds one more registration.

So, it turns out our headline "Last Chance to Sign Up for GT Hoops League" wasn't exactly accurate. Well, it was accurate at the time we wrote it and posted it to the site, but it turns out now it was inaccurate. We gladly admit it, as the inaccurate headline means a local sports league is giving kids one more chance to sign up to play ball. The Gloucester Township Boys Basketball League will hold one final registration night after it received "heavy call volume and email requests" for one more night of sign-ups, according to a post on the GTBBL Facebook page. GTBBL will hold the final registration Tuesday night from 7 to 9 at the Gloucester Township Recreation Center on Broadacres Drive. A birth certificate must be presented for each …
