Leaf Collection in Gloucester Twp. Begins Next Week

If you're in one of the communities scheduled for pickup Nov. 12-15, you're supposed to get nice weather to rake this weekend.

The Public Works Department is scheduled to begin leaf collection next week. If you're lucky enough to have your neighborhood included in the first-week collection, the National Weather Service forecast is looking great for you to get your raking done this weekend—sunny skies both days and high temperatures in the upper 50s Saturday and mid-60s Sunday. Residents are reminded to keep all leaves, unbagged, at curbside. If you must use bags, the Public Works Department reminds you to only use paper bags. It is recommended that residents rake or blow leaves to the curb the weekend before your scheduled collection week. Going Green

A Great Time to Be Green

The leaves might be changing colors, but with a few simple changes, you can stay green well into the fall.

As fall approaches, take advantage of the cooler weather and get outside to make some green changes. Here are some things you can do to be green, save money, and prepare your home and garden for the winter months ahead.  The end of the summer is a great time to clean your roof gutters and downspouts, before the autumn leaves begin to fall. Make sure your downspouts are pointing away from your house. While you’re up there, consider installing a rain barrel or other water collection device to save money and put collected rainwater to good use, watering your lawn and plants. Once those leaves begin falling, consider using an old fashioned rake or broom to clean up leaves and yard debris instead of a leaf blower. Sure, it’s a little more work…
