Guilty Plea Entered in Robbery That Led to K-9 Schultz Death

The accomplice of the man accused of tossing the beloved K-9 into an oncoming car pleaded guilty today.

A Washington Township man accused of robbing a Chinese restaurant last November, leading to the police pursuit that resulted in the death of Gloucester Township Police K-9 Schultz, pleaded guilty today, according to Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk. Evan Scotese, 20, faces a six-year prison term after he pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery before Superior Court Judge Irvin Snyder, Faulk said. Scotese admitted to robbing Lucky Dragon Chinese restaurant, located on the 400 block of East Church Street in the township's Blackwood section, around 7 p.m. on Nov. 30, 2010. Scotese punched a man working at the restaurant in the face during the robbery. He and co-defendant Skyler J. Robinson, 21, fled the restaurant with cash, according…

Justice is finally served. It won't bring Schultz back, but I hope his handler and his family can rest alittle easier knowing that Schultz did his job to the end and now someone will pay for his death.   more ›

Washington Twp. Men Indicted in K-9 Schultz Case

The indictments were handed down Tuesday—the same day Gov. Christie signed "Schultz's Law."

The Gloucester Township Police Department family received a double dose of good news out of Camden and Trenton on the K-9 Schultz front this week. A Camden County grand jury on Tuesday indicted two Gloucester County men in connection with last November's infamous Blackwood Chinese restaurant robbery that led to the death of the beloved K-9, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. "I'm certainly pleased that the prosecutor's office is working so closely with us on this case and has proceeded to get the indictments," Gloucester Township Police Chief W. Harry Earle said today. My heart still hurts for Cpl. Pickard. Five years is not enough. K9 Schultz in my opinion was a police officer and the punishment should fit the crime. If you kill law enforcement personnel you should get life. I hope these two get the maximum and no deals are made.   more ›
