OK, so maybe it's not trending right now, but chances are, it soon will be. The New Jersey State Police ranked second among state police agencies nationally in terms of Twitter followers, according to statistics recently released by the IACP Center for Social Media. The agency has 23,618 followers, trailing only the Massachusetts State Police, which had a whopping 62,493 followers, as of April 30. The Texas Department of Public Safety (18,787), the Ohio State Highway Patrol (13,587) and the Indiana State Police (13,466) round out the top five. The horses apparently broke free from a nearby farm in Winslow and galloped up the expressway until they were corralled.
The portion of the Atlantic City Expressway in Winslow, Camden County looked a little like the Wild West on Monday evening. Three horses and a pony that apparently broke free from a nearby farm galloped onto the highway at rush hour. State Police responded at 5:41 p.m. and found the horses running in the westbound lane, with traffic at a standstill. A few minutes later, the horses stopped to munch on grass in the center median, said Sgt. Adam Grossman, a state police spokesman. Police, with the help of some local horse farmers, were able to corral the animals in to a small area on the right shoulder. (Last Friday), a link was placed on the public website that connects users to very recent and comparative crime data for municipalities and counties. The data is updated every week, or as often as municipalities provide fresh numbers. “For the first time, we are able to give the public a sense of the current crime picture in their area. The Garden State was well-represented at President Obama's inauguration this week. From campaign volunteers to musicians to police, New Jerseyans were everywhere at the 57th presidential inauguration. Forty New Jersey State Police troopers were deputized in Washington, DC, for the festivities. They spent Jan. 18-22 in the nation's capital for the inauguration detail. Their expenses were covered by Washington, DC's police department. State police say a Williamstown woman was not wearing a seat belt in the Sept. 22 crash that killed her.
An investigation has determined a Williamstown woman killed in a one-car crash on Route 42 on Sept. 22 was not wearing a seat belt when the car crashed. Itay Massoquoi, 29, was partially ejected from the 2001 Ford Taurus during the crash. The car struck two trees before rolling over onto its side, according to New Jersey State Police. Massoquoi was a rear-seat passenger. The one-car crash occurred near exit 10, in Gloucester Township's Blackwood section. The car's driver, Monte Brown, 30, also of Williamstown, has been charged with driving while intoxicated, state police said. Additional charges are pending. Brown and his front-seat passenger did not sustain serious injuries in the crash.

Imagine getting a random Facebook message from a stranger saying: You only have a few weeks left to live, so spend your time wisely. That's exactly what authorities say happened to multiple victims in South Jersey, at the hands of a man they've labeled the "Facebook Stalker." State police announced Wednesday afternoon that they've arrested the Hamilton Township, Atlantic County resident who was allegedly terrorizing random victims online since the summer. Craig L. Wyatt Jr., 20, was charged with multiple counts of making terroristic threats, theft of services and harassment. He was held in the Atlantic County Jail in lieu of $35,000 bail. A 29-year-old woman dies in the Blackwood crash at around 5:30 Saturday evening.
A 29-year-old Williamstown woman was killed in a one-car accident on Route 42, in Blackwood, Saturday evening. Itay Massoquoi was partially ejected from the vehicle when it rolled onto its driver's side after striking two trees along the state highway, near exit 10, according to New Jersey State Police spokesman Sgt. Adam Grossman. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred at 5:25 p.m. The driver, 30-year-old Monte Brown, also of Williamstown, has been charged with driving while intoxicated, Grossman said Sunday afternoon. Additional charges may be filed against Brown. No charges have been filed yet following a crash that injured a Gloucester Township man and shut down a two-mile stretch of Route 295 in West Deptford for several hours Monday, State Police said Tuesday. The initial reports indicated motorcyclist Dane Walker, 48, crashed into a landscaping trailer while trying to cross from the far right lane to the far left lane, police said. Walker may have been speeding and weaving through traffic prior to the crash, Sgt. Brian Polite said, referencing the initial investigation. Walker was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden following the crash, where he was in critical but stable condition.
