Open or Closed on Columbus Day?

Schools are open in Gloucester Township, but there's plenty closed for the holiday.

Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue, then arrived in the Americas on Oct. 12, 1492. More than 500 years later, many Americans get to stay home from work or school the second Monday each October in honor of the unofficial founder of America. In Gloucester Township, schools will not be closed in recognition of Columbus Day. Both the K-8 Gloucester Township Public Schools and the Black Horse Pike Regional districts will be open Monday. Gloucester Township's government offices will be closed on Monday. Camden County and New Jersey government offices will also be shutting down for Columbus Day, which is a federal and state holiday.
