He is the Patch/NJ Aid for Animals Pet of the Week.
New Jersey Aid for Animals (NJAFA) board member Kelly Matthews, a Gloucester Township resident, submitted the following to Patch regarding a dog in need of a home: Meet Marlo, he's had it pretty rough so far. He has been living most of his life with a chain padlocked around his neck. He was neutered last week and suffered a severe infection, which required additional surgery. He had an eye infection that was also pretty painful for him. Marlo was skinny, dirty, and sick, but is still a friendly and very happy pup. Marlo has been happy to have a clean dry place to sleep and daily walks. He's been playing in the wide-open yard without the chain around his neck while he recovers from his surgery. He is considered urgent, and at risk to be put…

These canine sisters need a good home.
New Jersey Aid for Animals board member Kelly Matthews, a Gloucester Township resident, submitted the following to Patch: Riddle (brown and white) is a female approximately six months old, super friendly and she loves to get her belly rubbed. She loves people and is so gentle with all children, even with babies in strollers. She is very dog friendly, but if you take her sister (Twiddle) away from her or out of her sight, she will bark & cry until she sees her again. They ride VERY well in the car without even the need to be tethered. Riddle would do well in a home with children of any age, and even other dogs. We would really like Riddle and Twiddle to be adopted together. They are spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and play with…

Patch/NJ Aid for Animals adopt a pet of the week.
New Jersey Aid for Animals board member Kelly Matthews, a Camden County resident, submitted this to Patch: Kitty Girl and Buggy, a tightly-bonded pair of sweet-natured tabbies, don't know it but their lives are in danger. Their owner recently died and no one is available to take care of them. They are scheduled to go to an open-admission animal shelter on May 15, where they could be euthanized. Both cats are 8 years old, brown tigers, healthy, gentle, kindly and loving. All they need is a chance. If you can foster or adopt Buggy and Kitty Girl, please contact Patty, peetieb@aol.com. This dapper young dog is friendly, fun and looking for a loving home.
New Jersey Aid for Animals board member Kelly Matthews, a Gloucester Township resident, submitted the following to Patch: Meet happy go lucky Rick! He is a gorgeous, 1-year-old brindle pit bull terrier. Rick is a nice guy, lively and fun. He is ready waiting for a loving forever home. He's very social with other dogs and wouldn't mind a home with other dogs at all. He's been neutered and is up to date on all of his shots. Please consider giving him the second chance he deserves. If you're interested in adopting Rick or just meeting him please email info@njafa.org today! Five-year-old Fusilli likes to rule the roost—he just needs a home to do it in.
New Jersey Aid for Animals board member Kelly Matthews, a Gloucester Township resident, submitted the following press release to Patch: NJAFA has received a request for help with placement with "Fusilli." This sweet tuxedo, Fusilli, came to them in September 2012 as a stray, and they have tried very hard to acclimate him into their home, however he is an "alpha" cat—aggressively territorial with their other two resident cats. He does very well with their 12-pound Eski-Pom dog, though! They named him after the "corkscrew" pasta because of his incredibly soft, wavy fur (feels like a chenille sweater) and extremely curly whiskers. The vet believes he is a Cornish Rex mix, approximately 5 years old. Fusilli has a very sweet temperament, is …

This puppy, a Lab-pit mix, needs a home.
New Jersey Aid for Animals board member Kelly Matthews, a Gloucester Township resident, submitted the following press release to Patch: This cutie is a 6-month-old Lab-pit mix who is looking for a new home due to his owner's travel schedule picking up. She recognizes she's away a lot and wants to see her baby go to a home where he will have the companionship and attention he needs. He is neutered and crate-trained, and house-trained too! He also knows basic commands. He's well on his way to making one of the Patch readers a fantastic puppy. Now we just need someone to drop us a line and let NJ Aid for Animals know they're interested in adoption. Send an email to info@njafa.org for more details on bringing this darling puppy home to your …

Lulu loves to cuddle.
New Jersey Aid for Animals board member Kelly Matthews, a Gloucester Township resident, submitted the following to Patch: I am a very pretty lab/hound/pointer mix. I was chained in a bad person's yard for a whole year until NJ Aid for Animals came to rescue me. I am about 18 months old and weigh 50 pounds. I am spayed with all my shots. I love to fetch a tennis ball and squeaky toys. I have learned how to sit, drop and leave. I am housebroken and go very nicely into my crate at night although I would love a family to sleep in bed with as I love to cuddle. My foster family lets me cuddle with them on the couch. I am also very good in the car and don't dig or chew. I love all people including strangers. Why not visit me by filling out an…

Archie has a temporary foster mom, but needs a permanent home.
New Jersey Aid for Animals board member Kelly Matthews, a Gloucester Township resident, submitted the following press release—told through the eyes of foster dog Archie—to Patch: My name is Archie. I am a very calm young man (about 18 months old) who loves everyone including dog and cats. I am currently living with four dogs of all shapes and sizes. I am a brindle Pomeranian mix and weigh just 13 pounds, am neutered and micro-chipped, and have all my shots. Low maintenance for me 'cause I don't dig, jump or chew and am very quiet (not one of those small yappy dogs). Although I go into my crate very nicely, my foster lets me sleep with her and says I am a real snuggler. I only need to get groomed once in a while and am doing really …

Katrina wants to be a part of your family.
New Jersey Aid for Animals board member Kelly Matthews, a Gloucester Township resident, submitted the following to Patch: Katrina is a truly special dog. She is classified as "special needs" because she is deaf. But being special is so much more than that! Katrina was once an adorable little puppy. Whoever owned her must not have been able to figure out why their precious puppy wouldn't listen. Maybe they thought she was just a dumb dog and Katrina found herself living outside with no one to help her learn how to be a good dog and no one to take care of her. Animal control brought her to the shelter when she broke loose and no one came to look for her. Katrina tested heartworm positive while in the shelter. Her health deteriorated and her …
