Updated Local, County Crime Stats Now Available Online

The N.J. State Police website will be updated weekly with municipal and county crime statistics.

New Jersey State Police submitted the following news release:  The New Jersey State Police Uniform Crime Reporting Unit has just taken a significant step forward in reporting crime throughout the state. (Last Friday), a link was placed on the public website that connects users to very recent and comparative crime data for municipalities and counties. The data is updated every week, or as often as municipalities provide fresh numbers.  “For the first time, we are able to give the public a sense of the current crime picture in their area. Report: Crime Rates Drop in Gloucester Twp.

The 2011 Uniform Crime Report shows both violent and non-violent crimes dropped in Gloucester Township from 2010 to 2011.

The violent and non-violent crime rates for Gloucester Township dropped in 2011, according to the recently released 2011 New Jersey Uniform Crime Report (UCR), which shows crime totals for every town in New Jersey from Jan. 1, 2011, through Dec. 31, 2011. By contrast, Camden County as a whole saw slight increases to both rates in 2011. There were 218 violent crimes reported in Gloucester Township in 2010, or 3.4 incidents per 1,000 residents, according to UCR data. That number dropped to 187 in 2011, or 2.9 incidents per 1,000 residents. Robberies dropped from 55 in 2010 to 39 in 2011, and aggravated assaults were down slightly, from 154 to 139, according to the UCR.
