ReplyI don't usually complain but if Patch is now in the "video" business and using sensational terms like "perp walk" then let's get some better quality...the back of heads didn't impress me at all, would have preferred a well written print coverage...

On the article Former Triton Principal, Teachers Collected $95K+ While Suspended

ReplyLet's clarify something--EVERYONE--teacher pensions are taken( 7.5%) out of their paychecks, then a portion is matched by their employers. Many companies also give matching contributions to their employees' 401K and retirement funds, so why are people continuing to say "tax payer funded pensions"... teachers are also local & state tax payers contributing as much to their own pensions as many people in other jobs contribute or more...seems a double set of standards...in regards to their personal conduct AND to the penalties attached. If a "businessman" (not a teacher) had done the same incredibly stupid thing, would there be the same penalty-- since the age on "consent" in NJ is 16??? ....perhaps they would be given a divorce by their wife, but that is probably the only way their 401K could be taken away...unless, of course -- they are teachers, right guys???

Sue,
We have an "interim" super at this time, which means he could or could not be appointed as permanent super. I believe last year the Board hired a company to "find" candidates, none of which ended up being hired. Subsequent to that, many other administrators moved to other districts and the district has been functioning without anyone but the interim super at the helm...thankfully, some help is on the way--hopefully the right people. As an additional point for the public, our teachers have been working this entire year without a contract.... -

ReplyMichelle, you are really brave to put yourself out there....thankfully, there seem to be a few other "broad-minded" folks in the township as well....the anti semetic play on your name shouldn't have surprised me, but in reality, did....my Jewish best friend grew up with a Hanukah Bush, an evergreen tree that was decorated with the Jewish star at the top and decoraed with blue and silver ornaments. They also received gifts on every night of Hanukah. She married a Catholic, so they use multiple symbols representing both holidays. This also may come as a shock but there are OTHER religions dwelling peacefully in our diverse township. Last year I received a beautiful religious Christmas card from a Muslim family...that was GOLD to me!!!! Coexist, it can be done!!

I have driven a stick (VW vehicles) for 40 years. I was SCAREd to drive an automatic, but with a broken clutch foot, was forced to borrow one. I am currently teaching my son to drive my only vehicle (stick of course) and he is having a very tough time NOT looking down at the stick, thus taking his eyes off the road... I was thinking of buying him an automatic--for safety reasons, but this article gave me a different perspective....any tips you fellow stick drivers can offer to teach our next generation ????
