Thanks Paul. I don't know if I'd call them "schemes"-- but I think that is just disgraceful. What's next? Air control? I know how anti big-government you are, and I am beginning to understand why!

Hi Paul, the Confederates are still a "Hot-button" issue 150 years after the War. I'm going to do a blog on Stonewall next. I don't think minorities would have a problem with him if they dig into his history a little and put him context with the era he lived in. I don't want to get too involved with race or politics, other than to make fun of current politicians or politically correct notions every now and then.
I remember reading about a black "leader", ignorant of history, wanted to tear down a statue in Memphis TN dedicated to Nathan Bedford Forrest because he thought his nickname, "The Wizard of the Saddle", was due to his KKK prowess. Forrest was a founding member of the KKK after the War, back when their main function was dealing with the northern carpetbaggers infesting the South during reconstruction, but he quit after he felt they were getting too violent. I also read that hundreds of blacks attended his funeral in appreciation of his efforts to reconcile whites and blacks. His nickname, "The Wizard of the Saddle" was a reference to his cavalry horsemanship, not his KKK activities :)

Not for nothing, but Ben Bernanke was appointed chairman of the Fed by George W. Bush in 2006. Not sure how you can call him an Obama-ite. And while Corzine, McGreevey, et al certainly didn't help matters, many argue NJ's financial downturn actually began under Christine Todd Whitman.

Paul, I'll check out The Thomas Sowell Reader next time I hit the GT library.

Hi Paul, sorry, I just noticed your note. I like Buchanan's writing style. He throws in history, quotes,
and data, so even when I don't agree with him, I usually learn something. I've read about 4 or 5 of his books. I'm reading "Churchill, Hitler, and the Unnessacary War" now. Enjoy !

Not sure if this is the right place, but how did you get your red light ticket thrown out? That is valuable information.

Thank your lucky stars that your kids are grown (mostly)- parenting little kids in this day and age is like a slow form of torture. I am telling you, I am near out of my mind. (Not that I had that far to go)

I just noticed that you have SIX kids! Wow! Mind if I ask you the age range?
