Police Use Taser Warning to Break Up Fight at Skeeter's Pub

Saturday night was not alright for fighting at a Gloucester Township bar.

A Gloucester Township police officer used a warning shot from an electronic taser gun Saturday night to subdue a man who was allegedly unruly after a bar fight at Skeeter's Pub spilled into the parking lot, according to a police report Monday.

Authorities said Michael Mcerlain, 37, of the unit block of Silver Birch Road, in the Turnersville section of Washington Township, tried to grab a patrolman when he intervened in the dispute at the bar and restaurant near the intersection of Coles Road and the Black Horse Pike, Route 168, at 10:50 p.m. Police said Mcerlain continued to be belligerent towards officers until one of them fired off a taser warning shot display with sparks.

Mcerlian stopped resisting after the taser was fired and was then arrested without incident, police said. He was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. He was released with a court date after posting bail.
