Kingdom Charter School Hosting Fall Family Festival

The school, which opened its doors this fall, will host family events and fundraisers to support projects at the school beginning Monday.

will host its first-ever Fall Family Festival beginning on Halloween.

The weeklong series of events will kick off with “Trunk or Treating,” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the school parking lot.

Other events during the week will include a visit from the Lizard Guys on Tuesday, Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A in Sicklerville and a mini-carnival on Friday. All events begin at 6 p.m. and proceeds will benefit the school’s equipment and physical plant needs, including renovation of the all-purpose room and the purchase of additional technology and playground equipment.

According to Kingdom Charter lead person Wandria McCall-Hampton, the school would like to purchase additional interactive Smart Boards so that each classroom has its own. Currently, there is just one Smart Board per grade level. McCall-Hampton said the school is also in need of playground equipment. For now, students are playing with balls and jump ropes and participating in other organized games during recess.

A formal fundraising campaign will kick off in December and be organized by Kingdom Charter’s Parent Advisory Council.

“Ideally, we will have playground equipment installed by spring for the children,” said McCall-Hampton.

The total cost of the renovations and equipment purchase was not available.

Books may be dropped off at the school between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

In November, the kindergarten classes will start a food drive to support a local food bank. The classes will also help serve meals during Thanksgiving at a soup kitchen in the area.

Kingdom Charter School of Leadership is the township’s first and only charter school. It is a tuition-free school that is governed by a board of trustees.

Kingdom Charter Board of Trustees meetings are open to the public and held on the third Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at the school.
