Carol Reiff's Death and Disappearance Still Not Solved

Reiff's daughter said she knew something was wrong immediately.

The investigation continued Friday into the disappearance and death of Carol Reiff, a Gloucester Township resident whose body was found in a wooded area near her home at the Lakeview Apartments on June 24.

Reiff, 59, an insurance company worker and avid jogger, was scheduled to meet her daughter for a day at the beach June 21, but never showed up.

Her death has not been ruled a homicide by the medical examiner, but the prosecutor’s office and Gloucester Township Police Department consider the matter a criminal investigation. Reiff's body was badly decomposed when it was discovered.

Her daughter, Dawn Centanni, made a personal appeal this week to ask for clues in the disappearance and death of her mother. Centanni, 40, of Manahawkin, held a news conference at the Camden County Prosecutor's Office in Camden on Monday to announce a $4,150 reward for information about what happened to her mother.

In a video posted with this article, Centanni said she knew something was wrong when her mother didn't show up for a planned day at the beach.

"We've a very close family," Centanni said. "I talked to her every day or almost every day. When she didn't respond to my messages and texts, I knew something was wrong right away."

Centanni said she last spoke with her the day before. Reiffs remains were found June 24 in a wooded area near her home in the 500 block of Lower Landing Road, near the Route 42 highway entrance.

Anyone with information on Reiff's death is urged to contact Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Investigator Chuck Farrell at 856-225-8653 or Gloucester Township Police Det. Bill Westphal at 856-228-4500.
